The Great White Shark Protection Foundation was founded in 2002 as a result of it having become abundantly clear that the Great White Shark (Carcharodon Carcharias) internationally and nationally were becoming increasingly threatened by a variety of negative impacts on their natural environment . The great white shark populationinternationally was found to be declining at an alarming rate due to being an over all misunderstood fish specie that essentially forms part of the marine ecosystem.

No single body or organisation, either government or otherwise, could be identified as being solely responsible for the problems relating to operators conducting educational shark viewing and diving tours, or to promote the preservation and conservation of the great white shark on an extremely large scale. This therefore ultimately paved the way for the coming into existence of “ The Great White Shark Protection Foundation”

Over the past years activities undertaken by shark diving and viewing operators in and around the Cape Coastal waters were conducted in a safe manner. Operators have also conducted their operations in compliance with the Marine and Coastal Management drafted Code of Conduct, adhering to the ultimate safety regulations for both operators, client and the Great White Shark specie. Due to the expertise and knowledge of operators successfully workingon a daily basis with the Great White Sharks, this industry has become world-renowned. This industry has also grown at an enormous pace therefore urging the need for this protection foundation to be established, and we are working very hard towards being recognised globally.

We support and participate daily in the research projects undertaken by government in order to host educational programs to preserve the great white shark mainly in our area of concern and globally. We as operators are grateful and priviledged for the opportunity to work with these wonderful majestic creatures that God has created.
